When Kids Attack / Hair Fairies Chicago

I recently heard that a kid became a towel flinging barbarian at Hair Fairies Chicago. What do you do when a kid, one of which you have to scrape a metal comb across their head, becomes hostile? My solution is to make it a joke. A towel flinging at your face, a kid calling you names. It’s all something you laugh at. Show the child that they aren’t getting the response the expected and that you have risen above their threshold of effective badgering. They can’t hurt you, they can’t win. They may end up more open to you and your suggestions after that. Referring their attack on you to something a popular movie or cartoon character does may shift their focus to watching a movie or laughter. “Whoa, you fling that towel like Harry Potter flings a wand!” might distract them from the violence at hand and get them thinking about watching Harry Potter. Challenge them to a towel duel if needs be, but don’t let it get out of hand. Instead make the towel attack a positive enterprise. It can be harnessed to get the kid on your side.
