Lice, Google, Hair Fairies
This is a true Hair Fairies client story….A mother gets the dreaded call from her sons’ school: “Your son has head lice!” “WHAT?” “LICE?” “How?” “Are you sure?” She hangs up in disbelief. Frantically she starts to run around the house stripping the beds. She starts to wash all clothing in the house. Her older son is watching the chaos unfold in front of his eyes. He tells his mom to calm down. “CALM DOWN?” (Almost at a nervous breakdown) “Do you know they found head lice on your brother?” “Mom, RELAX! It’s no big deal. Just call Hair Fairies.” She’s confused. “Hair Fairies?” “Yes, Hair Fairies -The Head Lice Helpers. They are the safe head lice solution for frantic families!” “How do you know?” “Duh Mom, I googled the word “lice.” She stopped the cleaning commotion, did some online research about lice and subsequently called Hair Fairies to book appointments for her children and herself. This mom now says that she loves google, but she especially loves Hair Fairies LA for helping her and her children through the lice removal process.

The Sleepover Bug: Head Lice
Five teenage girls get together for a sleepover. They have a blast together: watching movies, telling jokes, dressing up and doing each other's hair. What a fun sleepover, right? There was an uninvited guest there (a predator if you will)! One of the girls (victims) a few weeks later is very itchy on her scalp. She is scratching and scratching her head. She thinks it's dandruff or dry scalp. When she removed her hands out of her hair one day, she was amazed to see a bug on her hand (HEAD LICE). AHHHH!!! She goes and calls her girlfriends to tell them she has discovered lice on her scalp. Another girl has her parents look in her head and they see nothing (untrained inspection and easy to miss). When she looks at her own hair in the mirror, she discovers a head louse walking on a strand of hair. The other girls decide to just book an appointment at Hair Fairies to get checked for head lice. The five friends all had head lice and booked their appointments together to get help with treating the lice. They all decided this will be a sleepover to remember with the sleepover bug.

The Love Bug
The Love Bug: Can you believe it’s February? It’s the month of love! Friends, families, Moms and Dads are hugging , giving each other flowers, chocolate, etc. Or Head Lice? Did you you know… that the most common way to get Head Lice is through hair to hair contact. They do not jump or fly. They do not have back legs to jump and no wings to fly. Since a louse cannot survive without a human host you can be sure they are not living in your couches, carpets, or car seats. Hug, kissing or any kind of head to head contact is the best way to give Head Lice to one another. So..be preventative. Keep your hair up, tight, in a braid or a bun and you’ll be sure to keep the Love Bug away! But, if the unfortunate occurs and you discover that you have head lice, please contact us to learn about our safe and natural head lice removal services.

Why we recommend that clients come in for a second treatment?
On the first head lice treatment, we remove everything that is visible. About 70%-80% is visible in the first visit. It is very difficult to get rid of the head lice infestation in one visit due to lack of visibility. The nits when they are first laid are transluscent and are very hard to see.The nits go from light brown to dark brown. The closer the nits are to hatching, they become darker, and more visible. When the nits hatch, the louse is very small, and they are flat on the surface, therefore the lice comb won't grab on to it. The remaining 20%-30% is removed in the second treatment. The second treatment is shorter than the first, since you will have less nits and/or head lice left. Unless you follow the two head lice treatments, we are unable to successfully remove the head lice, and deem you lice free, as well as guarantee our services.

Dancing Queen
Dancing Queen Some parents may come into Hair Faries frantic, scared or nervous. Parents are often times overwhelemed with dealing with this Head Lice infestation. They have to tell their freinds and family that they have been in close contact with that they have Head Lice or worse, their school! Hair Fairies is a safe solution and will deal with your Head Lice problem once and for all! Children are diffrent. They are care free and not cognizant of what is on their Heads. As funny as that may sound, in Chicago, we had this little girl who had a very moderate case of Lice. She is a 2 year old dancing machine. While mom was worried about her sibling having Head Lice, the little girl started dancing to her favorite pop songs. We named her "Dancing Queen". She brought smiles to other Parents, kids and even Hair Fairies Technicians. She shed light on what could be a positive experience for many other families dealing with these pesky parisites. Dance your heart out "Dancing Queen"! this is your song!

We Listen to our Clients
We Listen to our Clients At Hair Fairies we listen to our clients. Some of the best ideas have come from them as they are in the actual situation of dealing with Head Lice. Placing Jackets, hats and Gloves in bags at school. Doing free screenings once a month at our salon. etc…. Great ideas on prevention have come from many of our clients while being treated. So while we are confident in our expertise, we aren’t above listening to the Moms and Dads we treat. New ideas come from all over and one of the most overlooked places for ideas in most businesses seems to be the customer. Not at Hair Fairies Inc, "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Tips on keeping the lice away
In order for your child not to get head lice, your child should not be sharing any hats, helmets, or hair ties with another child. We all know how much girls like having their hair out, but in order prevent head lice, your daughters' hair should not be out. It should be tied up neatly in bun or braid, no loose pony tails. There should be no hair sticking out. All you need is one string of hair for the lice to grab onto to get lice. It only takes seconds for a louse to travel from hair to hair.

3 Percent of students of any given school have head lice!
It is a given that 3% of students typically have head lice at any given time and at any educational institution. Head lice are as common as the flu and equally as difficult to trace back to the source. The goal of Hair Fairies is to rid individuals of head lice definitively and manage the problem within any given community. Because head lice live through highly toxic products, the concept of eradication is impossible. Therefore they are here to stay and the problem must be managed instead. So don't forget come on in Wednesday January 18, 2012 for your FREE screening at our La Jolla Location!

Hair Fairies clients are well educated
It's a very rewarding feeling when clients walk into a Hair Fairies salon knowing all of our Q's and A's on head lice and our Nit-Zapping process. Maribel our lead tech in our Hair Fairies Los Angeles salon was treating a family who purchased our product, followed our tutorial (after watching it over and over again) but decided to come in after their first attempt. As Maribel treated she found a few nits. Maribel said the whole family was very well educated on the head lice subject, even the youngest of the family asked Maribel if she was ready for step 3 (blow dry) to commence our nit-picking session. All Maribel could do was smile and keep on "reviewing" what they already knew 🙂

Babies can get head lice
As much as we don’t want to believe that a baby can get head lice, unforunately they can. Head lice don’t have an age preference, as long as they are able to feed. Once a baby’s mother has it, it is about 90% chance that your baby will have it too. Moms are constantly hugging , and kissing their baby, so how could the baby not get it?
