Hair Fairies Helps Ease Jetsetter’s Mind

Hair Fairies The Original Head Lice Helps in San Diego received a call from a frantic mother who was about to board a non-stop flight to Los Angeles out of San Francisco. She was literally in the security line when she received a phone call from her husband that her son was being treated at our San Francisco location with a severe case of head lice. She immediately called our San Diego salon, located in beautiful La Jolla to set up an appointment. Mom was to drive down to SD from LA during Friday rush-hour traffic! Despite all the obstacles and anxieties of having to deal with head lice, Hair Fairies was able to squeeze her in due to our extended hours in San Diego, and to top it off – she was lice free! Her peace of mind was worth all the drama of the day. Mom did a “happy dance” and thanked us for the 100th time, and mentioned she can count on Hair Fairies during her travels due to our nation-wide locations. Hair Fairies: helping traveling families for over 17 years!

Flowers vs Lice

The dad of one of our clients came in earlier this week to make sure he had not contracted head lice from his daughter. Although he was almost 100% positive he didn’t have it, he just wanted to have a professional tell him “No sir, you do not have head lice,” so that he may be on his way back to his normal routine. I began checking him and I did not find head lice, but instead I found: flowers! Tiny little yellow flowers all over his head. I had the pleasure of telling him “No sir, you do not have head lice” and was also pretty happy to add “…but you do have tiny flowers!” Turns out, being the tallest person (with the shortest hair) at home really put him at an advantage to not pick up a bug, instead his height put him at the disadvantage of the family tree brushing against his head every morning, giving him a crown of flowers every morning!

Who loves Harry Potter?!

On Friday a brave little pre-schooler decided that it was time to finally watch a Harry Potter movie while being treated. Her older brother and sister had read all the books and seen all the movies, so what was the harm? She asked her dad if it was “permissible” ( big words!) to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and he said of course, as long as she was brave enough for the spooky parts. After a bit of hesitation she decided she was the bravest kid on the block and began the movie. IMMEDIATE FAN. From the moment Professor Dumbledore left Harry at his aunt and uncles as a baby to the very quick appearance from Lord Voldemort towards the end, she was hooked. She made sure everyone in the salon got a narrative of exactly what was happening in the movie at all times. She was not happy when she left the salon, since her plan was to watch all 8 movies in one sitting, but her dad promised to rent the next few for her for a Harry Potter binge three day weekend. It was pretty awesome to watch someone become a Harry Potter fan and forget about the fact that she was in our salon for a completely different reason. It makes every aspect of our job worth every spooky and magical scene!

Path To Self Improvement

The path to self improvement can certainly be quite difficult, especially if you do not know where to start. Take it slow if you have to, baby steps. Becoming disciplined is the first step, this will help you achieve many things; every successful person is well disciplined! Have  positive thinking: this will for sure diminish many negative thoughts and bring out the best person you can be. Set your goals: The feeling of being able to achieve a goal is so fulfilling, it will make you realize what you really want in life. We all have our own ways in heading to the path of self improvement, and it is never too late to start.

Random Acts of Kindness

Just recently we had a client whom appreciated our services so much that she went out of her way to come back to our salon to drop off a thank you card for one of our technicians. This was such a heartwarming show of appreciation, we all cherished her return visit. Mysterious Lice Infestation

Recently we had a client come in to get treated at our salon, unfortunately for her this was not her first rodeo. She's caught it every year and has been a very loyal customer of ours for a while now, this will be her 3rd time catching lice. She kept wondering why this always has to happen her, especially since she is in high school now. There are many factors that come into play when it comes to catching lice: sleep overs, airplane rides, sharing clothing, hair-to-hair contact(hugging, selfies, cuddling etc.), public upholstery, and so on. It can be hard to pin point to where exactly you have caught it.  She said she has been very cautious of everything she does, such as wearing shower caps if she has sleep overs, she even been keeping her hair up, and not sharing brushes. At this point, it is a mystery to her. Lice happens, and for some it occurs quite often. Rest assured, we are here to help make the mysteries of having lice solved.  HF BG

A New York City Head Lice Story

Here's a really cool story from our NYC crew! Yesterday, a little girl comes in with her dad, and she needs head lice treatment. As dad is running through his lice story with us, he says he's just come from Duane Reade where he'd talked to the pharmacist. He'd been asking about the correct way to use XXX Brand (major brand name that will remain anonymous!) because a day after using XXX Brand there was still a live bug on his daughter's hair! He was pretty concerned about that. As they were talking, the dad notices our folder on the pharmacy counter, and he says "oh can I have this please?" having noticed our ad previously at his child's school. The pharmacist says "no, that's ours?" Dad's disappointed for a second, until the pharmacist continues with a smile, "but you can have this one!" and he hands him one of our Hair Fairies brochures from a big stack! Dad pulls our address off the brochure and shows up shortly after with his daughter at our salon. We help them out. A New York City story with a happy ending! Oh and a great big shout out to Duane Reade!
