Hair Faries: where dreams come true!

At the beginning of the week we treated a family who gave their two kids a choice: we can spend the money on a Disneyland trip, or we can go to Hair Fairies and take care of our lice problem once and for all! Both kids chose Hair Fairies, fearing that they would infest the entire park and create a zombie-esque lice outbreak (which sounds kind of cool!) When they came in they were obviously bummed out that Disneyland was no longer part of their spring break plans so Mom made a compromise: kids have to do their own chores, without parents having to ask more than once, AND on top of that kids also have to do adult chores (you know, walk the dogs, make the Saturday morning breakfast, etc) FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH! Without a second of hesitation both kids agreed to all of the above. The happy family left to the place where dreams come true, with one wish already off the list: being head lice free!

Light It Up Blue

Light It Up Blue   I read an article by  Kerry Magro (a national speaker for autism) that said that over 70 million individuals, and counting,  have autism. Hair Fairies Salons have united with Autism Speaks' Light It Up Blue campaign to raise awareness and funds to research what causes autism and help individuals that are affected by it. All around the world many major monuments will be lighted blue and in all Hair Fairies locations we have lighted a blue light to show that we to care about this cause and our many clients with autism. “Hair Fairies @ the Family Resource Fair hosted by Bay Area Parent Magazine!”

On March 29th, 2015, Hair Fairies in cooperation with Bay Area Parent Magazine were present at the Annual Family Resource Fair!  If you were there, please call us at (415) 29205900 or email us at http://staging.hairfairies.com/ contact_us/ and let us know how the fair was for you!  We were offering free head lice screenings and cards, and topping it off with chocolate candies!   We met two families who have been with us before and they were so welcoming and that's the way we wanted it!

Hair Fairies Provides A Bounty of Information for Parents!

Lice is as common as a cold that children can get from being sociable. Parents often ask us questions about checking their children and themselves when there is an outbreak at their school or camp or they have been exposed to someone that has it. We provide information folders on how to check for lice. Also, Hair Fairies Salon educates families on our products. All of our products use natural non-toxic ingredients and can be easily stored put in medicine cabinets or elsewhere in  households. We offer a variety of services and information including our online tutorial on how to comb and check for lice (which can be viewed at http://staging.hairfairies.com/ video/-tutorial),  information cards that are given with purchased products (http://staging.hairfairies.com/ products/-products),  take home-regimen sheets, and in-salon tutorials. With all of our services, parents canfeel confident and  comfortable with dealing with an outbreak of lice.

Update from the ‘Mystery’ bug

*Update from the 'Mystery Bug'  http://staging.hairfairies.com/ blog/mystery-bug.htm * Pam had been dealing with a mystery pesky bug for months! We shared her frustration for weeks on end as she was trying to figure out what exactly it was. She mentioned to us that it flied and jumped from her closet onto her head and caused major irritation to her skin and scalp, so we knew it was not head lice.  She tried EVERYTHING, from going to the dermatologist to calling a exterminator to visiting us several times to be checked for head lice. Finally, a pest control service discovered that there were in fact rain flies in her home! A few treatments later they were outta there! She came in last Wednesday to give us the good news and to purchase more of our product! She was ecstatic to finally have gotten rid of that problem! She also mentioned that one of the things that kept her sane during the whole ordeal was our all natural products, which can be purchased on our website at staging.hairfairies.com. They really helped to soothe and calm her irritated skin. We were all so relieved to see her so happy! Yay Pam!

School Field Trips

School Field Trips   Spring is here and all of our local schools are beginning to take students on field trips. The news of going on a school field trip gets children excited and happy, but it also brings them together when it's time to take pictures. Unfortunately, this is a common way of coming in contact with head lice. When kids take selfies or pictures they often put their heads close to each other not realizing that head lice can take as little as half of a second to transfer from head to head and that this is an easy and common way for children to give each other lice. At Hair Fairies we recommend applying our Tea Tree oil as a preventative measure  and have children tie their hair back in a braid or bun to lessened the chances of contracting head lice. FaceTime Around the World

While getting treated at Hair Fairies our little 5 year old client decided she didn't want to play games on the iPad anymore. She decided she would FaceTime with her grandparents, aunt and uncle. She first called her grandma in France and spoke with her for a little while. She showed her our salon and the technician that was treating her hair. Next, she contacted her other grandma in Belgium and we all got to say hello to both her grandparents. We then jetted off to Sweden to FaceTime with her uncle who was very happy to see her. Lastly was Hawaii, where her aunt was celebrating her honeymoon. All the Fairies got to say congratulations and see the beautiful beach from her hotel window. Not only did our little client enjoy her treatment time here at Hair Fairies, we all got to travel around the world and say hello to her family.

Playlist that save the day!

Last Friday we had a frantic parent in our salon who was so panicked about head lice that she could hardly sit still! She had a cup of tea, asked us all the right questions and called almost every last contact in her phone to deliver the unfortunate news! About an hour into her daughters treatment, she realized everything was going to be just fine and that she was in fact in good hands. She said our music playlist really helped her get 'it' together. It just goes to show that when everything seems to be going the wrong way, it's the little things that help calm you down.
