Is this Hair Fairies Cream?

Due to the unexpectedly high demand in our clenz-cream we had to fill our online orders with a different container so we sent out cards with the orders with our apologies. We recently received a phone call from a client who placed an order with us for our clenz-cream; she has been ordering our product for the last few years and noticed our clenz cream container had changed.  She thought we had been pirated by another company so immediately made a call to Hair Fairies to investigate. When we explained to her the situation she burst into laughter and said she was extremely relieved it was our product. It’s good to know we have our clients looking out for us.

Hair Fairies Will Bend Backwards

The weeks following Halloween are filled with children hyped up on all the candy they got their hands on that special night! With all that extra energy sitting still is a pretty tough thing to do. At the Hair Fairies in San Diego we got to experience that 'sweet' energy first hand. Our sweet (and very energetic) little client went to the bathroom all by himself where we heard all sorts of commotion. When he RAN (more like flew)  back to the front of the salon he said the toilet had broken all by itself and he had noooooo idea how it could have happened under his watch! When we went to the back it was confirmed that the toilet seat had indeed come off its hinges. Two trips to the hardware store and several attempts to install a new toilet seat our very amazing technician Nadia decided to sacrifice herself to lay on the bathroom floor and install the toilet seat…mainly because she was the only one who could fit in the tiny space between the toilet seat and the wall. Presto! We now have an awesome toilet seat that hopefully will last us a long time! Thanks Nadia, we could not have done this without you!

Efficient treatment

In order for you to effectively treat someone of head lice you must comb the hair very thoroughly. You must comb the hair by sections, and comb each section thoroughly. There is no skipping steps or a fast way of getting rid of lice.It takes a lot of patience because it is a tedious task to do.

Mommy Daughter Love

As parents we love on our children so much that we tend to get everything they carry,  common cold, flu, stomach virus the list goes on and on! We recently had a mom who called and told us that ever since her daughter started Pre-K something is ALWAYS coming up, being that I'm a mother I totally agree! She then tells me she received a email stating, all parents need to be aware that head lice is going around in school. "Oh Great" says no parents! So when she arrived at Hair Fairies we did find head lice on her daughter, and ask mom if she would like to get checked, she agrees and what do you know? Lice… Both we treated, and while in the chair the daughter says, "Mom, I love you so much that, I'm willing to share my lice!" She is only four years old. Priceless

TLC Head Lice After Care

If there's one thing a Hair Fairy can tell you, it's that we LOVEEE to take care of our hands. We need them to do our pristine nit-picking fairy magic! For anyone opting to do treatment at home here are a few TLC tips from the Hair Fairies in San Diego to you:   1. Moisturize your hands! Although Hair Fairies products are all natural, sometimes our skin will dry out after a full day of treatments. We LOVE (and I mean LOVEEEEE!) to put Bath and Body Works 'Beautiful Day' lotion on our arms and hands all day. It smells amazing and has all kinds of skin-helpin' ingridients to make your hands silky smooth!   2. Manicures! Who doesn't love manicures? After a busy week removing these pesky parasites we treat our hands and nails to some glamorous designs and colors. Besides, our hands our one of our best assets and we love when our clients compliment our new designs.    3. Massage your hands! Groupon and LivingSocial always have amazing deals for less to get the well deserved attention your hands need. Nadia, a hair fairy in SD loves going to Happy Heads for her hand massages.   There you have it! Getting rid of head lice can be difficult and take a toll on your hands, so here are a few tips from us to you!

Nit Myth

A teacher came in because she was sure she had lice because one of her students has lice and she had found one strange looking thing in her hair that wouldn't move. Nits, which are the lice eggs, are not white. They sometimes appear white in the hair, but once you remove it, it should look brown. If it is not brown, it is not a nit. Nits are also not flat, and they will making a popping sound if you pop them. The teacher was so relieved that she didn't have it, but she told me that a lot of the information being told in the school was wrong. She took information about head lice and said they need a professional to come in and educate them on head lice. Since here at Hair Fairies we also do workshops we can definitely help them so that they can get the CORRECT information they need.

New Baby Blues

New Baby Blues   This past week we treated a family that had just brought home a new baby one week ago. Unfortunately the mom and all three of her daughters had severe cases of lice. At one point during their initial treatment the family was so stressed that mom and two of the girls were in tears as they sat in the chairs. It was already a highly emotional situation that was worsened when the grandmother who needed to stop by the salon with the newborn for a feeding found her car blocked in by a repairman  who had locked his truck keys inside his vehicle. This family was having a really rough day but were extremely thankful that we could take a load off by eradicating their lice. They returned this week for a check and were overjoyed to get a clean bill of health from us.

Beware of this Prescription

Beware of this Prescription,   A  61 year old grandmother asked me to please raise awareness of a lice removal chemical call MALATHION prescribed to her by her dermatologist. She contracted head lice from visiting her grand children during the summer at a summer camp that they were attending in Maine.By the time she realized that she had lice two months had passed by and she was infested, so she decided to pay a visit to her dermatologist to request something to get rid of the lice, and he replied by saying "I'll give you something strong, your hair may fall out, but you won't have anymore lice". At the time she didn't make anything of it because she just wanted to get rid of the lice and this meant spending more time with her grandchildren. After applying Malathion 3 times in the course of three weeks she noticed that she wasn't getting rid of the lice and that's when she came to visit us at our Hair Fairies location in CT. This grandmother was very upset to find out that she was still left with the problem of head lice. We at Hair Fairies were able to deal with her lice problem once and for all, but unfortunately that wasn't the end of her problems. Prior to her coming back to Hair Fairies for her guarantee check a few weeks after her last treatment she called to cancel her check because she wasn't feeling well. Little did she know that this prescription Malathion had poisoned her bloodstream that the levels of toxicity found  in her blood were extremely high. She end up being admitted to the hospital two days with her eyes being blood shot and doctors couldn't determined what was wrong with her and asked if she was around or dealing with plant fertilizers, until her husband went home and got the box of Malathion home to show the doctor, and that's when the doctor said that a woman at her age wasn't supposed to have this chemical prescribed. This grandmother called me and asked me to raise awareness of this chemical because she doesn't want anyone going through the same ordeal that she had to go through.
