The school nurse thought she knew how to identify lice

A mother brought her daughter to Hair Fairies because the school nurse had found "tons" of nits and lice in her child's head of hair… so she says. The nurse had told the mother her daughter had given lice to two other children in the school. At the end of the lice treatment, the count of nits that were removed from the child's head at Hair Fairies did not even account for one week's worth of head lice (there is a direct correlation as to how many lice and eggs one has on their head and how long you have had head lice. You never know when head lice is going to strike.  Having dealt with it before with my kids, you can always tell the parents in the room who have lice on their minds when trying on hats, at a sporting game (helmets) or dress up parties for kids. Hair Fairies lice advice (and more) is ALWAYS the best! During her second visit to Hair Fairies – The Head Lice Helpers I was thanked by a 6 ½ year-old (with the ½ emphasized :)) little girl. She mentioned how we always “have good advice about lice for their mommies and daddies” and that we really helped them a lot when we treated their lice. My heart melted as I said “Thank You, sweetheart”. Quickly after I thanked her, she added that she has other questions that did not pertain to lice or lice removal. If it was okay with me – she would like my help in answering them. As I glanced at her mom I answered, “sure honey ask away.” She paused then asked “How do I get a boy to be my boyfriend?” My mouth dropped and her mom and I could not help but giggle. Her mom and I quickly came up with an appropriate answer as to why at this age boyfriends are not her priority. Lice in Aruba

One of the worst bit of news to get on a vacation is that you have head lice, especially when you are in Aruba where there is no one to treat it. This recently happened to one of our clients while on vacation in Aruba with her daughter. Enjoying her vacation, she goes to a popular hair stylist in Aruba to have extensions put into her hair. The hair stylist decides to wash the clients hair first because she said that the client had tons of dandruff. That's odd, the client thinks, I usually don't suffer from dandruff. The stylist dries her hair and then starts putting in the hair extensions. When she is about to start putting the hair extensions in she notices something moving on her clients hair. She gets a magnifying glass to be able to see better. She calls over another hair stylist to take a look. Concerned the client asks "is my hair falling out"? The second hair stylist answers "no mam you have head lice". The client jumps out of the chair and doesn't know what to do. She decides to leave and in the hotel researches how to get rid of head lice. With no help from the web, she ties up her and her daughter's hair and puts hats on them until they come back to New York City. A week later when her plane arrives and literally touches the ground, she calls Hair Fairies and asks for an appointment for her daughter and herself to kill the lice she brought home from Aruba. Precautions to take when going on vacation to a family house

Most people wonder where did the head lice come from and how did the child's school get head lice, if the school had been cleared of head lice already. Most lice infestations occur during school vacation. Many people decide to travel and visit family during vacations. During their stay, they encounter head lice, and then travel back home with it. The kids will then return to school and it spreads from kid to kid, and kid to parents and siblings, and so on. When you are traveling to a relative's house, you should sleep on freshly clean sheets. You shouldn't sleep on sheets that your relative had slept on the night before. You should travel with your own towels, combs and hair ties so that you don't have to borrow your family member's items. You should consider having your child(ren) sleep by themselves, since it is very easy for the head lice to travel from head to head if the children are sleeping together. It is also great to have the environmental lice repellent spray so that you can spray it on the anything you may be laying your head on, as well as the prevention oil. Sometimes your family members don't know they have head lice and realize it once it is too late, and it has spread to more family members.
