FaceTime Around the World

While getting treated at Hair Fairies our little 5 year old client decided she didn't want to play games on the iPad anymore. She decided she would FaceTime with her grandparents, aunt and uncle. She first called her grandma in France and spoke with her for a little while. She showed her our salon and the technician that was treating her hair. Next, she contacted her other grandma in Belgium and we all got to say hello to both her grandparents. We then jetted off to Sweden to FaceTime with her uncle who was very happy to see her. Lastly was Hawaii, where her aunt was celebrating her honeymoon. All the Fairies got to say congratulations and see the beautiful beach from her hotel window. Not only did our little client enjoy her treatment time here at Hair Fairies, we all got to travel around the world and say hello to her family.

Playlist that save the day!

Last Friday we had a frantic parent in our salon who was so panicked about head lice that she could hardly sit still! She had a cup of tea, asked us all the right questions and called almost every last contact in her phone to deliver the unfortunate news! About an hour into her daughters treatment,she realized everything was going to be just fine and that she was in fact in good hands. She said our music playlist really helped her get 'it' together. It just goes to show that when everything seems to be going the wrong way, it's the little things that help calm you down. Wow Is it clean in here!   We often have clients visit our Hair Fairies location in CT, and as soon as they are greeted we hear them say "Wow is it clean in here!" Head Lice have grown resistant to standard OTC treatments

Head Lice have grown resistant to standard OTC treatments In a recent article in The Journal of Medical Entomology, authored by John Clark, a professor of environmental toxicology and chemistry at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, findings have found that head lice in the United States and Canada have developed a genetic mutation making them almost entirely resistant to over the counter treatments. "This is a problem we've been showing in development over a period of about 20 years. But our new work now shows that head lice are now almost 100 percent resistant to over the counter treatments,” says Clark in a recent interview with WebMD. His studies have revealed that the rate of resistance in the U.S. lice population began to approach 100 percent of the lice population between 2007 and 2009. Many families are turning to the manual removal process pioneered by us here at Hair Fairies. Our process doesn’t use any of the chemicals included in  over the counter remedies, instead we focus on removing the head lice and their eggs from the hair and scalp with a manual comb out with a non-toxic formula. Winter is Almost Over

Spring is right around the corner! In nature this means that flowers will soon start to blossom and tons of brand new baby animals will emerge from their caves and deep winter slumbers! Our adorable little client 'C' made this discovery this week. She learned in school how bears sleep during the winter and then come out during spring when it's nice and warm. She didn't start feeling itchy until early this week and she came to the (awfully cute!) conclusion that her bugs were coming out of hibernation, just in time for spring with their babies! 

Hair Looker

Hair Looker   Here at our Hair Fairies location in CT we listen to a lot of stories when we engage in conversation with our clients. This week a mom was sharing her story about how she was talking to her kids about college and how she became a professional, when she asked her six year old boy what he wanted to do when he grew up.  He replied,   "I want to be a hair looker when I grow up". The mom was puzzled because she did not know what a "hair looker" did.    She decided to ask her son.  He said " Well you know, the job that the women did when they took the all bugs out" The mom said that she was laughing hysterically, because she hadn't realized that he was talking about Hair Fairies. She mentioned what a great experience it had been, both for her as well as her son because he wanted to become a hair looker. Home Treatment

Last week a local high school student who has been battling lice for almost a year called our Chicago Hair Fairies Salon.  Her father is a single parent and they are on a fixed budget and could not afford an in-salon treatment and the methods she was currently using at home were not getting rid of the lice.  We convinced both her and her father to visit our salon.  During their visit, we counseled them on the products in our Hair Fairies Home Kit, staging.hairfairies.com/products/, showed them how to use the Nit-Zapping Clenz shampoo, cream, and comb, and provided them with collateral information about lice as well as the link to our instructional videos, staging.hairfairies.com/video/.
