Making Memories

Last week, we had a very special moment happen in the Chicago salon. While a family was walking out, a baby waved to one of the technicians and said, "bye." The exciting part about this was it was her FIRST WORD EVER SPOKEN!!! It was an incredible moment, because regardless of the lice, this will be a moment none of us will ever forget. I just hope they get a chuckle in the future when the little girl asks what her first word was, and the mom can tell the story of how they were at Hair Fairies when it happened.

What product should I use to treat my child?

What a parent describes that their child has head lice, they always ask themselves "what product should I use to treat my child?" First let's start with over the counter products. There are no over-the-counter or prescription treatments to kill lice that are totally safe and scientifically proven to be 100% effective against head lice and nits. These treatments are potentially harmful pesticides and reliance on them promotes repeated use and contributes to ongoing infestations, outbreaks and resistant strains of head lice.  Manual removal of the live lice and nits is the safe alternative and a necessary component of any head lice treatment regimen.  At Hair Fairies, with our all natural products and metal lice comb, we manually remove all live lice and nits, in order to leave your child free of head lice.  

Holiday Treats

Holiday Treats, It is always nice to know and feel appreciated, and that's how we feel at our Hair Fairies lice treatment salon in CT. The reason why, is because during the Christmas holidays we've received treats from our clients, people that show their appreciation by stopping by our salon to say their thanks for such a wonderful job we did for them.

Hair Fairies is magical just like FairyLand

We had our first child this week who told her parents that Hair Fairies is such a magical place just like fairyland!  We heard her dad telling her that when they enter  Hair Fairies it is just like Fairyland.  We treated them and when they left, the girl told her dad that Hair Fairies is just like what he had told her!

A Kind Gesture Goes a long way

We had a mom who asked us if she can get another client's name and address so she can send a personal thank you letter to the other mom.  The other mom had lent her a mini iPad so she could use it to book a hotel for their stay so they can finish up their treatments at hair fairies the next day.  It was very kind of both moms (who didn't know each other) but they both understood what head lice entails and the stress they can incur. It just goes to show that a kind gesture can go a long way even for head lice treatments. 

A Convenient Move to the States

A Convenient Move to the States A few weeks ago I noticed a family moving into the apartment above Hair Fairies Chicago.  One mom and 5 kids. I told myself jokingly I would definitely be seeing them in here. A few times she came in to ask a couple neighborly questions as she was putting her stroller on our back porch so she didn't have to carry it up 3 flights of stairs :)) Well just a couple days ago she came in and said she needed our help with treating her daughter and herself. I advised her to screen the boys too, even though she said she treated them already. The boys actually needed treatment with mom (not badly) and the daughter was clear. As we were treating them we found out that they just moved from Germany and she had to look up the word lice in English because she just thought we were a hair salon haha.  We had a great interaction with her and she will always be thankful for convenient move ins!!! -HFChi

Do pets get head lice?

One of our most common questions is can my dog catch lice? I'm always snuggling with him. OR can my cat catch lice. She sometimes lays on my bed. Head lice cannot be “caught” from pets and cannot survive on pets, so NO pets cannot get head lice. Head lice are human parasites and require human blood for survival.

Santa Saturdays

Santa Saturdays This is Brad are Saturday Santa! While standing outside with our Hair Fairies sign a gentleman asked if I would please get into his car for a picture he was wanting to capture… "The Cali Santa Vibe".  I was just as excited about this since he now has the perfect Christmas card for his family members and a gorgeous car!

Some important facts

Head lice are small insects that live on the head because the blood runs closer to the surface than anywhere else in the body, which is why head lice only live on the head. When a person has head lice, what makes them itchy is not the eggs. What makes your head itchy is the bites left behind when the bug feeds off your head. Head lice spread mostly from head to head contact. Head Lice DO NOT fly or jump. Many people still believe this to be true, but lice only crawl. One last important fact, people do not get head lice because they are dirty, head lice actually prefer a clean head because it is easier for the bug to move around and for them to attach their eggs to your hair shaft.  

Our Goal

A client came into Hair Fairies because her daughter had head lice. Immediately when she came in, she said "Wow! This place is really nice!" She told me that the place looked so cozy and so kid-friendly. She was even more impressed when she saw the different kinds of entertainment we had for the children to use while they were being treated. Once I was done, she thanked me and said she was so happy that we were here to help her with this problem. Here at Hair Fairies we aim to make our clients happy and resolve their head lice problem.
