What’s my Name?

We had a family of four come in to Hair Fairies for lice removal. It was mom, dad, and two boys. Unfortunately they all ended up with lice and were being treated here in the salon. We first treated the two boys simultaneously then it was the parents turn. The Hair Fairy treating dad called him over to sit in the station, she called him Bailey. Dad said nothing and sat in the chair. Everyone in the salon was chatting with one another while the boys were having bagels and watching movies. While being treated the Hair Fairy asked dad to look up and called him Bailey, he again said nothing and put his head up. Mom turned around and said, “Who is Bailey?” Dad answered, “That’s me.” He decided to go along with the name change and give himself an alter ego. His lice name would be Bailey he said. Every time he was at Hair Fairies he would only answer to Bailey and not his real name. Happy to say they came in for their second treatment and they were all lice free. He said Bailey would be on hiatus until they got lice again, which he was hoping would be a long long time from now.

Home Schooling Myth Buster

This week at Hair Fairies Dallas we've seen our fair share of large families come in. The homeschool community has been a present fixture in our salon for the past few days. These large families have been flooding our salon with tons of personality. Everyone at the salon has gained insight into this budding community that has managed to create a strong network based on strong values they all share. This influx of home school families all originated from one single family who realized the importance of making their peers aware of their own infestation in order to avoid further infestation among their close nit community. Our books were immediately filled with families requesting checks and asking for more information on how to remain lice free. Series of e-mails were sent out to any families involved in this community and they responded in the most positive and responsible manner anyone could have asked for. If the ignorant assumption was ever made that home school families lack social interaction, it was proved 100% wrong this week at Hair Fairies Dallas.

We went to a school/day camp and met lots of kids the past few weeks.  We went back to the same camp for our second follow up Head lice check at the school/day camp and one of the kiddos drew us a picture!!!  It was from July 4th festivities!!!  Thank you for the pic! Our Hair Fairy tech brought this back and it is now hung on our wall!!!!

“What’s the benefit of having Head Lice? Hair Fairies San Francisco

One of our dads came in for his head lice treatment and asked us the question, "What's the benefit of having Head Lice?"  That question kind of stumped us a bit, since we were so effortlessly trying to educate him on Head Lice Prevention and our overall Nit Zapping treatment process. There is only one upside to this problem…you have the option of meeting a team of people who are kind, patient, and educated enough to put you at ease during the removal process AND you don't have to do a darn thing yourself!

Nannies, another head for head lice to thrive…

When getting rid of head lice everyone in the household must be checked. One person that can be considered part of your family is your nanny. Many families have nannies that spend at least 8 hours in their homes with their children, therefore your nanny can get head lice as well. A family was checked at Hair Fairies where one of the children was known to have head lice. The mom said that she must have it because the child slept with them every night. She told the nanny I don't believe you have it but you should get checked as well. The end result was the nanny had more than both mom and dad combined because she spent many hours of the day with the child: feeding her, reading to her, bathing her, putting her to bed, etc. Nannies spend almost as many hours as the parents do with the children and sometimes more. Always make sure to get your nannies checked as well.

Entire Household Screenings

A few weeks ago we had a young lady come in for a screening that recently relocated here from Florida. At that time we only found two nits on her, therefore she decided to be treated. Since she had a mild case, she purchased everything she needed to deal with her room she was staying in, "Oh" and by the way she also was sharing the room with the families 8 year old son. She scheduled her guarantee check and went home to take care of washing and disinfecting the bedding in the room she was staying in.  When returning a week later for her screening to much surprise she had a couple more nits then was found in her first treatment. She once again decided to be treated and went about her day. She then made an appointment for her guaranty check and once again we found even more nits then the first two times. We told her she really needed to have the family come in so we could check them and  it would also allow us to offer our 14 day guarantee. She said the family was in denial and stated that they checked each other and did not have it.The moral of the story: cross pollination can become a serious problem. A simple family screening could have saved her hundreds of dollars and sleepiness nights . Needless to say she has come to the realization that getting her own place may be a cheaper solution to getting rid of the little pests once and for all. We will see what happens  when she comes back from her flight to get checked . By the way she is an airline stewardess!

Summertime Fun

We recently went to a camp check with 5 Hair Fairies to check about 200 hundred campers. The LA Salon packed up all the supplies and took the hour long trip up to the camp. We each had our own partition in a middle of a field with horses and goats around us. We arrived at about 12:30 to set up and by 1pm the crowd of families with kids ready to start camp had arrived. There was a “First Aid” station where kids would take their temperatures, and then there was a “Bunk Buddy” station where the kids would find their bunk mates. Last but not least there was a “Lice Check” station. As kids would come and sit in our chairs the first thing they would tell us is how nervous they were. The Hair Fairies always try and make this experience as pleasant as possible and try and talk to the kids and make them comfortable. Everyone left with a smile on their face and I’m glad to say all 200 kids were lice free and ecstatic to start camp.    

Camps that think Ahead

Camps Think Ahead!!! Are you one of the many parents who've been told by their summer camps that you need to have an official letter stating that you are lice free before entry? Also parents who just want to make sure and be proactive their kids are clear after a long school year?!  We are here for you too! Not only did we Screen for Lice, we brought back a teacher with us to HF San Francisco!

We would like to thank a school in San Carlos California who have invited us to their school for lice screenings.  Hair Fairies offer 2 FREE hours for schools and camps!  While we were screening the kids at the school, we also discovered that the teacher of the classroom was infested!  We drove the teacher back with us to our Lice Salon in San Francisco for treatments! The teacher thanked us and she actually came back for a follow up check and is 100 percent clear!!! She now knows to keep her hair up in buns and braids, and with our Hair Fairies Prevention oil, and Lice Repellent Spray, the teacher is well equipped with lice prevention at her school!
