Salon Confusion

Today we had a family show up bright and early at 9:00am at our Chicago lice treatment salon. Knowing we didn't have any clients until 10:00am, I thought to myself we may have an emergency walk in…only to find out when I opened the door I was met with a person saying ''Do you have time this morning for two blow outs and two haircuts?'' I say, I'm sorry miss we are not that kind of salon. We are a clinical salon solely dedicated to head lice removal. After that was said the mom and her mother (grandma) in disbelief both stare are each other confused. ''You what?!'' Yes, mam we specialize in treating head lice and that is it. Right away she wanted to know all the information on what we do because she has never even heard of a salon like this. At one point she said you're okay with touching and looking at bugs all day?! I gladly answered for myself (and on behalf of the staff) that we are proud of what we do. We help out with frantic parents who don't know what to do when it gets out of hand or if it's their first experience with it AND we LOVE what we do. Happily (and being so fascinated with what we do) she asked me kindly for a business card and any other information we can provide. She right away said I'm definitely going to keep this salon in mind because I have a lot of little nieces and nephews and even friends with little kids. All I could do was smile and say while all of us were laughing… “that's great and thank you for coming to the wrong salon.” Funny what you may find out by stepping foot into the wrong salon!

Lice on vacation

Lice on Vacation Recently there was a family at our Hair Fairies CT lice salon that received a call from a friend saying to check her daughters for head lice because they had been in contact with her son and he had just been diagnosed with it. At this point. the mom starts searching online for a head lice treatment service in CT.  She and her family are on vacation and she has no idea if something like this exists! She finds out that Hair Fairies in Connecticut has great reviews online and decides to come to us. Soon enough the family finds out that they all have it (except for dad) and all end up getting treated with us. When she got back home from vacation she went for a second lice treatment to another one of our locations in her home town and got the good news that the entire family was lice free and that the person that had treated them did an excellent job. The mom was so excited and thankful that she took the time to call us at Hair Fairies CT and tell us how thankful she was and expressed what a wonderful job I had done.

We had an impromptu booking for a large school lice screening this week and it was phenomenal!  It all started with one parent who came to use our services.  After we had educated and treated her daughter at the Hair Fairies San Francisco lice treatment salon the mother called her daughter’s school to inform them about our FREE Lice checks from our salon "on the spot".  We were able to book the school lice check the next day and book a car to travel down to the South Bay.  The school was very welcoming and understood why our presence and expertise in Head Lice screenings are key to control and manage head lice in schools. The lice check turned out well and the school even booked us for a follow up this Thursday! We are proud and appreciative of their efforts to keep lice from spreading. Their efforts will most definitely pay off and ward off the head lice. We dropped off a Lice Repellent Spray for them to use, a folder with informative and educational parent letters, and all the literature on head lice possible to help other families at their school. 

Barney and Friends

About two days ago I had a client who was 3yrs old who needed to get screened for head lice. Here at Hair Fairies we have every age imaginable receiving lice treatment or getting screened. This little boy was so scared to sit in the chair. He kept screaming, “No scissors! No scissors!”  I got on my knee and showed him I only had a comb in my hand and that there would be absolutely no scissors anywhere. Once he sat down he calmed down and picked Barney and Friends to watch from our movie list. I set him up with a personal DVD player and gave him a lollipop. He completely forgot about his head getting checked for lice. I started to wet his hair and comb him out and throughout the entire time he kept singing at the top of his lungs every Barney songs that would come out. He even tried to teach me the theme song so we could sing along together.  Everyone in the entire salon was laughing and trying to learn the Barney theme song. I would say a couple more times listening to the song and I think all the technicians working here have got it down! American Idol here we come!

It’s like being at a spa

    It's like being at a Spa!!! "This feels like being in a Spa" were the words of a mom that came to our Hair Fairies location in Connecticut to have her daughter treated for head lice. This is the experience that Hair Fairies offers:  relaxing, educating and nourishing.. When clients arrive to our lice treatment salons they are usually stressed, misinformed, and overwhelmed with wondering how to kill lice, but by the end of their treatment they are exponentially more knowledgeable and relaxed.  

Camp Ready

Me (Deya) and two other technicians went to an all girls camp to do a head lice screening. There were about 300 girls and all of them were nervous about finding out whether or not they had head lice. One of the girls in my line tells me that she knows for sure that she doesn't have head lice. I asked her, "how can you know for sure?". She goes on to tell me how her whole family had to travel to new york from new jersey because they had gotten head lice. She tells me that she had the worse case in her family and therefore she must have been the first to get it.  She also said she got to go to Hair Fairies to get rid of all the head lice. I then tell her, "We are the Hair Fairies!" I go on to tell her that it still doesn't explain why she would not have head lice now. She tells me that she wears our lice prevention oil every day and that she takes our lice repellent spray with her everywhere so that she can spray it. And that she is very careful not to touch heads with other girls and not to share brushes, hats, or hair ties with anyone else. I told her that she was very proactive. She tells me "You Hair Fairies did a great job on getting rid of our head lice and you're really nice but I don't ever want to have head lice again!."

Constance Matthews reports in: So, Friday we had the cutest kids in. My afternoon client was a girl, about 7ish, who watched Harry Potter and actually talked to the characters in the movie as if she were there! She'd say things like, "Harry, you should have told him you were trying to catch the train to Hogwarts!" or "Wow, Hermione, you hair looks different from last time." She also kept us all up to date on where she was in the movie world- like, "Oh, we're in the flying car now!" and "I'm going to Hagrid's now!" The girl after her, about 9, just had the most gorgeous hair, I had to make a fuss over her and give her a fancy "do". When she was done & still had to wait for her mom & sis to finish up, she couldn't help but dance all around the salon floor- which was fine cause they were the only family there. Too cute! Not too bad for a Friday the 13th!

Lice Free!!!

    Lice Free!!!  Often we think that only moms get worried or upset about having Head Lice, but that is not always the case. I treated a lovely girl at our Hair Fairies lice salon in CT who had been fighting head lice since December.  She was growing tired of her mother's several failed attempts to kill the lice with different pesticides and home lice remedies. Finally her mom received a postcard from Hair Fairies and decided to give it a try. The girl is now LICE FREE!!!…due to our efficient and effective lice treatment products and method. Hair Fairies making kids and parents happy all the time!!

Tips Galore

Tips Galore! A family of 6 came in to Hair Fairies with 3 daughters. They had thick long hair and all had very severe lice infestations. We had to work on them for a good length of time so much so that we had to scheduled a continued appointment for the very next day. Their mom acknowledge how tiring and time consuming the lice treatment process can be and was very grateful for our services. She generously tipped the girls $20.00. per child per day! The technicians were very happy and felt very appreciated.Thank you to our clients that turn this in to a positive experience for our hardworking Hair Fairies!

Friday The 13th!!!

Friday the 13th!!! Friday the 13th is often associated with bad luck but at Hair Fairies – The Head Lice Helpers  Lice Treatment salon in Connecticut, it was the opposite. The clients had a wonderful time taking advantage of our Free head lice screening day and also our Free brush give away in appreciation for choosing Hair Fairies!!! One of the moms said "Wow!!! It can't get any better than a Free lice check, Free brush and lice Free status…. today must be my lucky day!!!" Hair Fairies can turn drastic moments into happy memories!
