Lice can bring Family and Friends TOGETHER Lice can be a nightmare. But it can also bring family and friends closer together. Learning that you and your family have lice can be incredibly overwhelming at first – especially with all the things that you have to do immediately. The to do list goes on and on such as: Cleaning all the bedding, clothes, and brushes and keeping up with it for weeks at a time. Also the uncomfortable phone calls to family and friends warning them your family has lice is never a fun moment but is absolutely necessary in order to prevent the lice from spreading. That’s when you start to feel like you've caused a lot of people a lot of problems. More times than not we see friends and family members coming together and understanding it's nobody's fault when it turns out that someone has caught lice.  Our clients from the same communities and families are usually supportive and usually will work together to get rid of lice infestations when they arise.  I’ve witnessed family and  friends coming in together for their lice treatments and making it a fun and exciting day out at Hair Fairies. A communal experience if you will. Although they laugh and say Hair Fairies is the best thing that ever happened to us and we hope we never see you again. Additionally they also always say we made it the best experience for their family and friends and couldn’t be happier they came in to get treated for head lice at Hair Fairies.

A gift from a grateful client

A client came early one morning tour NYC lice treatment salon in order to bring Margie a gift for having stayed late (after hours)to do a lice treatment on her daughter.  The family was  traveling 3 days later to Ecuador and wanted to have all the necessary treatments for her daughter before leaving. After having stayed very late that night, Margie came in very early the next morning to check the child's father for head lice before going to work. The clients couldn't stop expressing their appreciation for such great service. Hair Fairies will always go above and beyond to accommodate their clients.

We hear the funniest and darndest things here at Hair Fairies–most of it is educational and worthy of a prevention.  For example, we had clients who taught us how to say head lice in German, French, Filipino, J apanese, and Spanish.  Just the other day, our clients were discussing proper lice prevention measures and how NOT to get head lice. One person said, "when it comes to head Lice, sharing is not caring."  LOL  We couldn't agree more in the context of sharing hats and anything head related.   We know that in a family unit, head lice can be easily transferred from one family member to the another.  Just by sharing hats, pillow cases, and combs/brushes we may transfer a head louse from one person's head to another.  So the saying goes, "When it comes to Head Lice, Sharing hats and anything head related is not caring for the person who will get it! smiles,

Familiar faces

Familiar Faces,   Here at the Hair Fairies lice treatment salon in CT we had a family that had been to our other location in New york city two years ago to treat her family for head lice. When she walked in our location here in CT she was so happy to see me (Lourdes) because I was the one that had treated her daughter two years ago. She loved our Hair Fairies salon here in Connecticut and said that at least this time she didn't have to panic because she knew she was in good hands.

Kids Dancing To Our Music   Kids are enjoying themselves when they come to Hair Fairies treatment salon in CT.  We had the pleasure of having three kids that happen to love music and know the lyrics of most the songs playing on the radio. They sang and sang while being treated for head lice, and once their treatment was done they got up and started dancing to the rhythm of the music and celebrating that they were lice free. This is what I call making the best of your day!!!!

Vacation Madness

A family comes to New York on vacation from Italy. While enjoying visiting all of NY's landmarks their 2 year old keep telling her father that her head is itchy. Dad figures that it is the different climate. He tells his little one that they will wash her hair and the itching will go away. The next day their 7 year old starts complaining that her head is itching. But mom and dad still believe it is because of the climate change and jet lag. While visiting The Museum of Natural History  the 7 year old goes up to her parents and says "mama, papa I found this in my head." Mom immediately recognizes the little bug as head lice since she had had it as a kid. They went to Duane Reade and bought a lice shampoo that they believe would get rid of the lice. Mom and Dad treated both girls and Dad treated mom who also had it. They did the combing everyday until they realized it wasnt working the lice was not going away but their vacation was quickly dwindling away. They decided to go online and look up ways to get rid of head lice and they came upon Hair Fairies and were astonished to see that there were salons that rid you of head lice since there are none in Italy. Dad comes in with the 2 year old and tells me how he's been treating his daughter but that the nits are so close to the scalp that he can't get rid of them. I look in the 2 year olds hair and see tiny head lice on her scalp and ask Dad if this is what he couldn't get out of his daughter's head. He tells me yes and couldn't believe that they were actually bugs and not the nits. Once the lice treatment is complete he decides he definitely must bring in his other daughter and his wife. They all come in for treatment and the family was just happy that they could enjoy the last few days lice free before going back to Italy.

At Hair Fairies we build our brand through building relationships with our clients.  Having a positive and connected relationship with our clients is key and usually one of the first things they experience upon using our lice removal services.  It is a very emotional problem to have so we have focused on training our employees to manage this issue first. The relationship starts from the consultation on the phone all the way through treatment and finally to our goodbyes when they are lice free and have completed lice treatment.  Parents are usually frantic and don’t know what to do when they call or come in. We immediately give them the facts and sooth their kids. Its what we do best and it's our only focus.  We believe building trust is about sincerity. The best part about our job is when clients hug us and invite us into their homes because we have put the time and effort into not only treating them for lice but building a relationship.  We are the trusted brand for head lice removal.  

The Boy who loves coming to Hair Fairies

A mom goes to visit her son at camp and while he is showing her his bunk he is unconsciously and vigorously scratching his head. He shows her the cafeteria, the lake, drama stage etc. but mom is losing focus because her son continues to scratch his head. The mom asks her son…why are you scratching so much? He replies “I hadn't noticed mom.” At this moment is when he notices that his head is actually really itchy. Excitedly he asks his mom — “do we have to go to Hair Fairies now?” Mom says, “Well I don't know.  We are not sure if you have lice.”  Why are you so happy about getting lice? Even more excited he says, "Mom because I get to watch a movie and get a massage at the same time".  It's time for mom to leave and her son is about to hug his mom when she says playfully, "no hugging. You might have bugs in your head!".  Right then and there mom sees a live head louse on her sons head. She immediately called us to bring her son to Hair Fairies straight from camp for a lice treatment.

On top of offering little treats to all of our clients like candies  and toys in our treasure chest, we also would like to let you know that your child can draw a picture for us to hang at our location! We had a dear client of 4 years old who had asked us if she could take home one of our hair fairies drawings so she can color and bring back for us to hang on our wall.  We have premade outlined Hair Fairies drawings where the kids can color.  Once these drawings are colored and decorated with our kids’ artistic impressions, we at Hair Fairies can hang them on our wall or on a clothing pin line for decorations!   Here is how it looks and another one with our very own artist who had artistically left us behind an individual message from New Zealand!  Time and time again we see at our lice treatment salons, that just because you are dealing with lice, doesn’t mean that the fun has to end. Life is always full of problems, but at hair Fairies, we don’t let lice get us down.  

Lice is very common

Lice is very common, Head lice is very common.  The reaction to having it is also common: Don't say anything about it. The reluctance to tell others that you or your child have lice, coupled with the fact that many are unaware of it being a problem until it is well-developed, means that lice is always going to be hopping around. An exemplary case of how this happens occurred recently at our Hair Fairies lice salon in CT. A mom who came in for screenings was friends with a family that had been dealing with lice for a while but never knew it.  The minute the mom discovered her family had lice (during their family screening at our location) she called her friends immediately to tell them. The reaction was, "ohhh I've been battling with it for a while now too and felt like we were never going to get get rid of it". To this the mom gets really upset and asked her "why didn't you say anything to me?" The other mom didn't want to say anything because she thought that people would think she and her family were dirty. With that being said there are a lot of people out there that are still very misinformed and this is the reason why Hair fairies takes pride in educating our clients.
