Traveling Lice: From Maui to New Mexico to Los Angeles

We recently had a client from Maui at our Head Lice removal salon in LA. She had been battling lice for a few months with no success. She remembered she used to live by a head lice removal salon when she lived in LA. Always driving by and thinking what an unusual business. Never would she have thought to one day need this type of service. Flying to LA for head lice treatment seemed absurd at the time. But after several months of failed OTC treatments and an emergency scheduled flight to New Mexico she figured what the heck it's close enough. With no appointment scheduled, she booked a last minute flight from New Mexico to LA. Hopped on the first taxi and headed straight into the salon. When we arrived in the morning she was waiting patiently in our patio. We were able to immediately accommodate her. She told us about her lice struggle. Recently, we had a family come in who had unfortunately gotten lice from their niece. This is not their first time dealing with this. They actually had gotten it 6 years ago when the children were younger. Kids Are Loving Hair Fairies

  Kids Are Loving Hair Fairies We take our jobs seriously here at Hair Fairies and this mean ridding families of head lice while educating them and showing them a good time. One of the ways that we know that we are doing our jobs well done, is when we hear the kids on their way out say "When I come here again I'll watch another of your movies and you can give me another lollipop and get something from the treasure box". These were the words of a five year old girl coming for her guarantee check, and was looking forward to coming to Hair Fairies again! Her mom was so happy to see that her daughter was well taken care of (a clean head, no lice while being entertained) that she said "You girls should babysit, the kids love you, my daughter is even looking forward to come here again".

You’re Not Alone!

Finding out you have head lice can be a very scary thing. With so much contradicting information. you don’t know what to think. Did I do something wrong to get this? What do I do now? Why me? These are just a few things one may ask themselves when finding out you have head lice. Recently, a family had come in because their child had been sent home with head lice. While we were treating them, you could tell they felt horrible. But then, another family they knew came in, and everything changed.  They no longer felt alone in the situation. They realized there is nothing they could have done to totally prevent head lice. Sure you can use prevention oil, keep the hair up and tight, and talk about boundaries but its as common as catching a cold. Once they realized they were not alone, their whole vibe changed. The parents were happy and laughing with the technicians while the kids played and laughed. Great day at Hair Fairies!

Hair Day with Dad

We recently had a dad bring his two daughters in to be serviced. While here he explained to me how his wife was out of town, and if I could help teach him how to do his daughters hair. It brought back many memories of my dad attempting to do my hair as a child! Safe to say he mastered the ponytail, with the help of a FAIRY!

Facebook Post

A client came in last week, and I asked her where she heard of Hair Fairies. She replied… facebook. I looked at her puzzled, and she explained that when her kids' school called to tell her that her kids had head lice, she did not know what to do. She said she never dealt with head lice, so she wrote on facebook "Help!!! My kids have lice." One of her friends told her the best place to go for head lice is Hair Fairies. She was so happy that her friend had told her about Hair Fairies. She said facebook saved her life.

Lice 101

At Hair Fairies, besides removing head lice, and educating about the life cycle of a louse, we also give clients the tools to handle head lice if it ever arrives again. Recently, the Chicago location received a call from a mother who has been at our salon before. Unfortunately, her family had picked up head lice again. The difference with this infestation compared to the last, was the she had the tools that she learned at Hair Fairies to treat this problem at home. She called to confirm a louse can only live 48 hours off of the head, and to confirm what needed to be cleaned. The most impressive thing is that she had remembered this information for almost 2 years.
