A little thank you

Dealing with head lice can be scary, tedious and plain uncomfortable for some of our clients, especially our younger ones. Luckily,  we Hair Fairies will do everything in our power to make your visit feel as comfortable and relaxing as possible! That was not the case for one of our more recent younger little clients. During his first treatment he was everything but relaxed, and although we offered him movies, snacks, video games, and toys, he left the salon — lice free– but not necessarily wanting to see us anytime soon. Four days later he came back for his 2nd treatment and this time we were prepared to give him 5 star service! We gave me him "strong dinosaurs" to give him Dino strength during his treatment as well a lollipop that made him behave like a big boy 😉  Success! By the end of his treatment he told us in a very happy tone "That wasn't so bad." That was all the thanks we needed! 

Hair Fairies Knows Best

Hair Fairies Knows Best,   A mom took her 4 year old girl to the dermatologist to have her scalp checked because she noticed that her daughter had been itching for a while and thought that she had a dry scalp. The dermatologist recommended a lotion for dry scalp after checking the little girl's hair. 2 weeks later the mom notices that the itch is not going away so she makes an appointment to come to our Hair Fairies Lice Treatment salon in CT to have a screening for head lice. Little did the mom know that her daughter's itchiness was caused due to the fact that her little girl had head lice. With her first treatment her itchiness was gone and so was her head lice. Mom was Happy, little girl was happy!!! We at Hair Fairies know best when it comes to head lice!!!

Some facts

Adult head lice are roughly 2—3 mm long. They can move on the hair and scalp, while the baby head lice only move on the scalp. Head lice infest the head and neck and attach their eggs to the base of the hair shaft. Lice move by crawling; they cannot hop or fly. Head lice infestation, or pediculosis, is spread most commonly by close person-to-person contact. It can also be spread by sharing hats, hair brushes, anything that can go on the head. Dogs, cats, and other pets do not play a role in the transmission of human lice.

That’s a Myth

Recently, we had a child who was being worked on at our Chicago location. The child asked one of our technicians if he had gotten head lice because he was dirty? The technician replied, “That is just a myth, the #1 way of getting head lice is head to head contact. Basically, it’s a downside to having friends and being cool. I always say, ‘If I had a kid, and everyone in their class got head lice but my child, most parents would be thrilled. I would look at it like we need to get you in some clubs or after school programs.’ The child’s face started to glow. He paused for a second and said, “Awesome, because my friends and I like to play outside and sometimes we get dirty and I didn’t want to stop doing that.”

Dreams Do Come True

  Dreams Do Come True, How lucky can you be (when you receive as a graduation present) a ticket to go on your dream vacation since you were six years old??? I would say very lucky! Sometimes when our wishes come, obstacles try to get in our way. BUT leave it to Hair Fairies to fix! A very bright young lady came to our location in CT and was very sad because if she did not get rid of her head lice issue she would not be able to go on her dream vacation. Fortunately we were able to fit her right in and do our Nit Zapping Treatment Process to rid her of  head lice. She left confident with a smile on her face knowing that finally she would be able to go to Greece. Finding out that you have lice at the last minute when you are traveling is a nightmare. Getting treated for head lice at Hair Fairies CT at the eleventh hour is Priceless!!!

Sit Back and Relax

Recently, we had a family come in with head lice. When the family first came in, the daughter of the family was crying because she did not want to sit in the chair. 2 1/2 hours later, the girl started crying because she did not want to leave. Her mom said, "Don't worry, we are going to come back in a couple of days." The girl responded, "Do you promise?" This isn't the first time a child has been upset about leaving Hair Fairies. Children have even asked to have their Birthday party at our salon. At Hair Fairies, we do our very best to make your stay as comfortable and entertaining as possible.So, if you're ever at one of our salons, get ready to sit back and relax as we take care of your lice problem; just be prepared, you might not want to leave!

Not just Head Lice Technicians: “Pediculosis Specialists!”

Working at Hair Fairies the Head Lice Helpers is rewarding, interesting and yes most of the time fun. Being that the head lice removal process is long and laborious, we have plenty of time to get to know our clients very well. During a group conversation a client asked the technicians on the floor, "What do you tell people you do for a living?" Almost instantly and unanimously a reply "We lie" One tech said "I'm a hairdresser." Another said "I'm a guidance counselor." There were a few others called out, when a client states" Well technically you are not lying you are counselors and hairdressers." At this point one tech speaks out "Honies, there is no shame in what we do. I say the truth. I'm a pediculosis specialist!" The room burst into laughter. In the end we all agreed, we are PEDICULOSIS SPECIALISTS!

Curious Toddler

Here at Hair Fairies, our motto is Care, Nurture, and Educate and we strive to accomplish that with every client that comes thru our door. Recently, we were working on a little girl who had a lot of questions for us. She asked about the life cycle of the bug, how long it could live in the environment, etc. After about 10 minutes of questions, one of the technicians said, "You are going to be a lice expert after today!" She said, " I know, that's the point. That way, when I'm older, I can work here." Usually kids want a movie, or a video game while they are in the chair,. But not this little girl, she is looking for a job!

“School Screening in the east bay here we come!”

We are excited and looking forward to work with a school in the East Bay!  Got a call form the director who asked us to do an on site school screening and perhaps a workshop.  She has heard us from multiple parents and peers who have used our services before.  We are glad to hear it!

Girly Girl

Girly girl, Girls need their beauty, like a four year old girl that was treated for head lice at our location in CT. She loved our fairy color gel and at the time of checkout when I was showing the mom the products she need it, her daughter says " mom I need a fairy color gel" to what the mom says "you want it, you don't need it" and the little girl replies to her mom, "no, you don't understand I need the fairy gel because I NEED to look pretty".
