  The bug free hairstyle A mom and daughter came into Hair Fairies because the daughter had gotten head lice. The mom was clear of head lice when screened. I explained to the mom what needed to be done at home and how to prevent it. Once I finished, I picked up the girl's hair in a ponytail, braided the hair, and then wrapped the braid into a bun resembling a ballerina bun. The mom told her daughter this is how you will be wearing your hair everyday. She called it the "bug free hairstyle". She told me i'm sure she won't catch head lice now.

We are happy to inform that our light switch to the basement is now fixed and ready for business! We had a little panic attack yesterday when we came into work, turned on the lights to the basement and there were no lights.  We had lamps! So we used those which made the basement look and feel cozy. Our clients came in today right in time!!! After the electrician (Carlos) fixed the light switch, we were able to turn the circuit to our main room lights back on again.  Just in time for our clients to check out Hair Fairies main room.

Mom look!!… it’s the Hair Fairies!!

I was coming out of the train and I hear a child shout, “mom, mom!!!… look it’s the Hair Fairies.” One of the children that had come in last year was so happy to see me and told me how much fun she had when she was there. The little girl tells me “I wish I had head lice again so that I could go back to Hair Fairies.” The mom told me that she has been putting her daughter’s hair up and using the teatree oil everyday and she has not gotten anymore head lice.

The Ever Lasting Parade

  The Ever Lasting Parade Here at the Chicago Hair Fairies Location were able to see the "would be" clients stroll by everyday.  We have a very beautiful large and picturesque store front window. The street gets a lot of walking traffic and we get to see different reactions to our store signage and concept. Usually it's enthusiastic laughter and pointing to let whomever their with know to take a look. OR its a confused/disturbed look.  One time a dad actually grabbed his son closer to him when looking at our signage. What I like to do is either wave at them or say to myself "You'll be needing us one day, haha". But in all honestly we are here to help care, nurture and educate the public. So to my many Paraders…please feel free and welcome to come in and ask us questions, get the facts about head lice and learn we are here to better our community.

Lasting Connections

  This morning I received an email regarding a great Yelp review that had just been received. After I read it, I believe its not just about the great service and products Hair Fairies in Dallas offers, but truly about  connecting with our clients. Whether it be a single person or a family, these days life in general can be very trying. Its my belief that people deserve to be treated with compassion and respect,and when certain situations arise, sympathy as well as empathy. In this day and age there are a lot of choices out there and if we here at Hair Fairies in Dallas can make just that little bit of difference that sets us apart from all the rest, We've done our job. I remember this particular family that sent this great review. They are from L.A. They have not lived here in Dallas long . They are apart of a huge network of  Home Schooling families to which several of the families came down with head lice.She began to tell me how many of the families because of the situation will no longer have anything to do with her family. My heart was saddened by such ignorance. Sometimes just taking the time to listen can and does make all the difference in the world. So my moral to this story is take time out of your day to truly listen to someone and be compassionate. Its these little things in life people tend to forget about.

“Facts of Lice…LOL” SF HF

We had a funny moment on the floor yesterday.  A mother was trying her hardest to figure out how she and her kids had gotten Head Lice.  We were trying to help her out with all the discovery by conjuring up past incidences just to pass the time.  In the end, the mom, humbling as she could, just realized that its just a fact of life.  One of our techs chimed in and said, "Yeah, its just a Fact of Lice."  We all laughed and carried on.  LOL

Positive Attitude, It's so incredible how one small event can change the entire mood of your day. What’s my Name?

We had a family of four come in to Hair Fairies for lice removal. It was mom, dad, and two boys. Unfortunately they all ended up with lice and were being treated here in the salon. We first treated the two boys simultaneously then it was the parents turn. The Hair Fairy treating dad called him over to sit in the station, she called him Bailey. Dad said nothing and sat in the chair. Everyone in the salon was chatting with one another while the boys were having bagels and watching movies. While being treated the Hair Fairy asked dad to look up and called him Bailey, he again said nothing and put his head up. Mom turned around and said, “Who is Bailey?” Dad answered, “That’s me.” He decided to go along with the name change and give himself an alter ego. His lice name would be Bailey he said. Every time he was at Hair Fairies he would only answer to Bailey and not his real name. Happy to say they came in for their second treatment and they were all lice free. He said Bailey would be on hiatus until they got lice again, which he was hoping would be a long long time from now.

Home Schooling Myth Buster

This week at Hair Fairies Dallas we've seen our fair share of large families come in. The homeschool community has been a present fixture in our salon for the past few days. These large families have been flooding our salon with tons of personality. Everyone at the salon has gained insight into this budding community that has managed to create a strong network based on strong values they all share. This influx of home school families all originated from one single family who realized the importance of making their peers aware of their own infestation in order to avoid further infestation among their close nit community. Our books were immediately filled with families requesting checks and asking for more information on how to remain lice free. Series of e-mails were sent out to any families involved in this community and they responded in the most positive and responsible manner anyone could have asked for. If the ignorant assumption was ever made that home school families lack social interaction, it was proved 100% wrong this week at Hair Fairies Dallas.
